About Us

Red Flame Dance is a performing arts school based in Haddington, East Lothian. The school was founded as a dance school in 2006 and has grown to encompass new areas of performance.

All Red Flame classes in Dance are a great way to exercise and provide a progressive learning experience, Dance classes are beneficial at any age. Classes for young children encourage increased co-ordination, spatial awareness, and encourage social interaction and confidence in a fun environment. Studies have shown that older children and teenagers engaging in extracurricular activities are healthier and more successful in later life. Classes for adults are a great way of keeping fit and making friends in addition to learning a new skill.

Internship Programme

An intern is someone who works in a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, making it similar to an apprenticeship. Our Interns are usually high school students or university students, but they can also be post graduate adults looking to develop an outside interest or seeking skills for a new career.

Assistant's studio internships with Red Flame Dance offer a fixed one year position with the company where participants will gain valuable professional experience in a variety of roles. These internships provide opportunities for students to gain experience in the field of Dance, Theatre, and Education, and create a network of contacts. An internship makes a very powerful addition to your CV. Universities and employers look for candidates who are not only academically capable but who have real experience of the work environment and have developed skills such as leadership, communication and teamwork. In this respect a Red Flame Dance internship offers skills that cannot be learnt in the classroom.

A Class Assistant intern is present at each dance class to deal with in class administration, and assist the teacher. Class Assistant's receive free classes on a pro-rata basis, a uniform discount and many other perks.

A Council for Dance Education and Training Recognised School

Red Flame Dance is a recognised school with the Council for Dance Education and Training. A CDET Recognised School is a pre-vocational dance or musical theatre school that has been awarded the Council's certificate of good professional practice. If you attend or intend taking classes at a local dance or musical theatre school it is essential you do so at a school that distinguishes itself from the large numbers of unregulated 'dance and musical theatre schools' operating throughout the country. It is important that you choose a CDET dance or musical theatre school because of its commitment to professional practice, your safety and wellbeing.

Schools awarded CDET's Recognised School mark demonstrate to students, parents, and guardians that they adhere to the standards demanded by the industry; standards designed to protect and safeguard young people whether dancing for leisure or with an eye to a career in the profession.
