Marion, Too Long in the Forest

Marion: Too Long in the Forest
After Robin’s untimely death (of bird flu), an aging Marion must save the Kingdom one last time through the media of dance and song, proving once and for all that she is a greater hero than her husband ever was.
Evil is afoot in Nottinghamshire. After Robin's death, the King annexes his lands to set up the country's first civil service, throwing Marion into prison. He departs for the crusades, leaving his spoilt, fashion-victim daughter to pass a series of terrible laws enforced by a radical cohort of Belgian pirates.

Escaping from her cell, Marion returns to the forest, training and leading an unlikely but determined band of heroes in a last desperate assault on Nottingham castle against the forces of the malevolent adolescent, Princess Stephanie.
With the future of the county hanging in the balance and Robin's ghost hovering at her shoulder, Marion has the chance to prove to the world once and for all that she is as much of a hero as her late husband ever was.

What is it about?

This is a play about courage amid adversity, defiance in the face of age and mortality. There is a twist of political satire, but most of all it is a comedic musical adventure for all ages.

RFD Productions is based in Edinburgh and is dedicated to showcasing new work and developing new and existing talent. The company was formed from Red Flame Dance. The cast is a mix of professional and amateur actors and dancers of all ages from 9 to 70-ish, all based in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

Cinderella

A Tale of Mirth and Woe
The 2006 production of Cinderella by the newly formed Red Flame Dance company took place at St. Mary's School in Haddington, featuring a cast of more than 50 dancers. The electric choreography had tentative toe-tapping from the ‘tinies,’ a scramble of balletic mice in tutus and knickers, followed by flamboyant Latin twirling, co-ordinated antics from pom-pom twirling cheerleaders, nonchalant posing en pointe from the principals, a spot of ceilidh, a flurry of tap, a Parisian-style line-up of high-kicking ladies, and a glittery moment of West End show style razzmatazz.

Who Could Ask for Anything More?

The first show produced by the Red Flame Dance group back in 2006, this was a variety show in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and featured a variety of crowd pleasing acts.
